Lets talk about the exam first.
7.48am, boarded a bus from Redhill town.
8.05am, reached East Surrey Hospital.
8.15am, started filling in the mark sheets with my name, exam number etc.
8.15-9.15am, sat nervously with 4 other candidates in the waiting room.
9.15am, brought to the exam area and waited outside the exam room.
9.20am, started Station 5. Got a thyroid, ?psoriatic arthropathy, ?Raynauds which i failed to mention, and Holmes-Adie pupil.
9.45am, Station 1. Got a ?COAD with basal fibrosis with a left lobectomy in cor pulmonale; and a decompensated liver cirrhosis with gross ascites in hepatic encephalopathy.
10.10am, Station 2. Patient with asthma came with pleuritic chest pain, worried about PE. ?Pneumonia causing AEBA with pneumothorax.
10.35am, Station 3. Predominantly motor polyneuropathy ?hereditary motor sensory neuropathy; and a ?corrected TOF with ?PS/AR (this was a really tough one!!!)
11.00am, Station 4. Talk to a patient with infective endocarditis who wants AOR discharge.
11.25am, I'm free like a bird - for real IF i pass - the examiners were really poker faced so can't really make out whether the diagnoses i mentioned above were correct! Don't dare to say anything before the results are out.
Whatever it is, it's over now, and i'm gonna enjoy this coming one month!! Cos whatever could be done within my limits, i've done them all to prepare for this exam.
I have studied hard before i came, travelled to PJ (UMMC) and KL (GHKL) for practice during the weekends, went for mock exams in Malaysia, spent my 2 months' salary for a course and mock exam here, did my attachment in a hospital here (will blog about the hospital later). During the last 2 weeks, together with KH and GW, we prepared for the exams intensively...
We discussed...
studied alone...
studied in the park...
cooked...
and drank... (alcohol is cheap ma, hehe)
The final few days before the exam was really unbearable. Could feel the intense stress in each of us...
And i travelled by train to Redhill where my exam was held.
This signboard welcomed me.
Redhill.
Visited my exam centre a day before.
It was in this building that the battle took place.
Stayed a night in this pleasant little guesthouse the night before my exam.
My room.
View from my window. Guess what time was this? It was 9pm and still so bright!
Did some meditation and then went to bed at 9.30pm but only managed to doze off after more than an hour... and woke up at 2am and had difficulty sleeping again! Tossed around in bed and had some intermittent sleep till 6.30am.
Me in the mirror before leaving for the exams!
